Carl S. Smith, Ph.D., CMA, CFM, CPA
Carl Smith is an associate professor of Accounting and the director of graduate programs in Accounting and Taxation for the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business. His research interests include managerial and cost accounting as well as ethics. In addition to his academic responsibilities, Smith also maintains a small CPA practice.
Smith is a former Chair of the IMA Global Board and a member of the IMA Emeritus Committee. He served in the Chair role in fiscal 2005-2006. A frequently published author, Smith has also served on and chaired numerous IMA committees.
Smith received his BS, MBA, and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Connecticut.
