Hessel Brouwer serves as the head of controlling and finance for the Commerce Department of Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund, where he is responsible for performance management and strategic business partnering for a portfolio of Swiss retail companies. Prior to that, he held finance leadership positions at Dätwyler and Johnson & Johnson.

A CMA since 2009, Brouwer helped start and grow IMA’s Switzerland Chapter by serving in several leadership positions, most recently as past president. Brouwer serves on IMA’s Global Markets Standing Board Committee and as chair of the Europe Regional Advisory Committee. He previously served on the Performance Oversight and Audit Standing Board Committee.

Brouwer earned a master’s degree in international business studies with a specialization in finance from Maastricht University. Additionally, he is a Swiss Chartered Expert in financial and managerial accounting and reporting.
